The New Chuck Taylors Are Indestructible, Excessive and Cool as Hell

You may not need your Chuck Taylors to be stab-resistant, but it can’t hurt.

Now that Chuck Taylors are more than a century old, the design team at Converse decided it’s time to make the shoe all but impossible to do away with.

The newest Chucks are made with Cordura instead of canvas. If you’re unfamiliar, Cordura — a brand with many variants of its super-tough fabric — is used far and wide for all things that require multiple degrees of durability. Cordura’s strength is so great the brand has menus full of submenus dedicated exclusively to fabrics designed and used by the U.S. Military.

Converse has worked with Cordura previously on other Chucks, but the new models stay closer to the brand’s original DNA. Expect them to drop late July or early August for a price of $70.
