Vans’ exclusive Vault label teamed up with Brooks England and designer Taka Hayashi for a capsule collection of premium leather footwear and accessories. The collection, which released December 3, is made up of two shoe styles (the Sk8-Hi and the Classic Slip-On), a Brooks Swift Saddle and a Brooks Barbican shoulder bag. The leather on each piece in the collection features laser-etched artwork designed by Hayashi which draws on Southwestern motifs found in Fred Harvey–era jewelry from the early 20th century.
The collection is a celebration of the strong history of both brands, which each had significant anniversaries this year. Brooks (which has been constructing leather goods in Smethwick, England since 1866) celebrated its 150th anniversary, and Vans (founded in 1966 in Anaheim, California) celebrated its 50th anniversary. The collection lets the best elements of both companies shine in a range of products both familiar and fresh.
