Rimowa makes some of the world’s best suitcases. Those grooved aluminum exteriors aren’t just durable but downright gorgeous, and they only seem to look better with a few well-earned dings.

But let’s be honest: unless you’re a pilot, flight attendant or true frequent flyer, your suitcase probably spends a majority of its time in standby mode. Which means most Rimowas rarely see liftoff, save for the occasional trip.

The good news is that fans of the iconic aluminum luggage now have a way to bring into their everyday lives via Rimowa’s new Original Cross-Body Bag designed to hold your EDC (and then some).

Rimowa Original Cross-Body Bag

Part of Rimowa’s Original collection, the new bag is made from the same grooved aluminum as its classic carry-on. It also carries Rimowa’s signature metal rivets and logo badge.

However, it does chart its own course with a few upgraded details that inject a bit of everyday luxury. The first is a full-grain leather interior, equipped with two open compartments, one zippered compartment and four slots for cards.

The leather also extends to the handle, itself reinforced with an aluminum frame. That said, the bag is more convenient as a crossbody sling, and it comes with a nylon webbed strap emblazoned with a small easter egg: the coordinates of Cologne, Germany, where the bag is manufactured.

All told, the Original Cross-Body Bag measures 7.4 by 10.3 by 3.5 inches and weighs 2.4 pounds, with a carry capacity of half a gallon — more than enough for a phone, charging cables and other knick-knacks that don’t comfortably fit in a pant pocket.
