Red Wing Heritage boots have no shortage of admirable qualities: good-looking leathers, high-quality constructions and strong welts that make them easier to resole down the line, thus turning them into true heirloom pieces to anchor one’s wardrobe around.

But as a brand, few qualities remain quite as enticing as the sheer amount of leather options on offer, all sourced from the company’s own SB Foot Tanning Co. in Red Wing, Minnesota, and only growing in number.

As a brand, few qualities remain as enticing as the sheer amount of leather options on offer, all sourced from the company’s own SB Foot Tanning Co. in Red Wing, Minnesota.

Red Wing’s Classic Moc, for example, comes in double-digit leather types, including Oro Legacy, Copper Rough and Tough and, as a recent addition, a Dusty Blue roughout that’s new this spring.

Now in a collaboration with New York streetwear label Engineered Garments, Red Wing will lean further into its array of leather, namely by using multiple finishes on the same silhouette.

A love letter to leather

At launch, the treatment looks to be exclusive to the low-top version of the boot called the Shop Moc Oxford. That said, it does represent a especially novel treatment in the sense that the standard Shop Moc Oxford comes in fewer leathers than the six-inch boot, making it the sole chance at acquiring the style in various leather types.

In a sense, the collection builds off the Triple Black colorway, first released in 2024 and now back for a second run as a compelling dress-shoe alternative.

This time around, though, it’s joined by Camel Remix — a colorway that uses Olive mohave and Hawthorne Abilene for a tonal take on suede with variations in texture — as well as Copper Remix.

The latter is arguably the most intriguing of the collection, as it utilizes three of Red Wing’s most popular browns: Oro Legacy, Briar Oil-Slick and Copper Rough and Tough, which will each present differently after sustained use.

The ever-expressive Rough and Tough, in particular, has become a darling of the Heritage catalog for its ability to quickly build patina.

Pricing and availability

All three colorways are available now at various retailers, including Nepenthes, Meadow and Canoe Club, with prices starting at $389 — a nearly 35 percent increase from the standard Shop Moc Oxford and, if nothing else, testament to their collectibility.
