New Balance Just Confirmed Why This “Made in USA” Sneaker Is a Modern Staple

The historic American brand spruces up this stalwart shoe with a trio of heritage-inspired colors.

“Modern classic” gets thrown around a lot. But few sneakers are more deserving of the moniker than the New Balance 993.

First released in 2008, the sneaker quickly became a pillar of the brand’s vast and storied catalog, amassing a loyal fanbase that even included the late Steve Jobs.

Combining elements of earlier 99X models but slimmed down for a younger clientele, the 993 has long delivered dad-shoe vibes and reliable cushioning in an elevated form factor that marries old-school aesthetics and modern sensibilities.

The 2025 Heritage Collection is no exception to the rule, and the three colorways that comprise the new drop only further the 993’s overall thesis.

True to form

A light gray colorway called “Reflection” leads the Heritage Collection, offering a subtle variant to the brand’s classic grayscale. It’s joined by beige “Incense” and “Covert Green” — both earthy alternatives that stay within the brand’s established sandbox.

All three models feature gray accents across their uppers and Abzorb midsoles, with the suede pigskin overlays representing their main points of departure from one another.

As part of New Balance’s Made in USA lineup, the shoes show the upper limits of the brand’s might when it comes to materials and manufacturing.

According to New Balance, the all three models contain a domestic value of 70 percent or more — a fact they proudly wear with sub-branding on the tongue.

Meanwhile, the words “Heritage Collection” appear on their respective footbeds.

Pricing and availability

The Heritage Collection is available now on New Balance’s US site. Though they only come in a single D width, all three colorways are available in men’s sizes 4.5 – 14.

They cost $200, the same price as the standard Made in USA 993.
