Born out of a desire to provide people with friendly and inclusive gear, Standard & Strange was founded in 2012 out of a 200-square-foot store in Oakland, California. While they have since grown quite a bit, the brand is still committed to providing quality products in an inclusive environment. Standard & Strange’s new Wakayama Special Loopwheel Tee is the perfect example of their commitment to quality. It is the result of years of dedication to creating the perfect fabric. Crafted at one of the two remaining Loopwheel mills in Japan, the fabric underwent months and months of sampling and tweaking before heading to production. The result: super-soft long-staple cotton, knit in Wakayama, Japan.
The Fabric
This loopwheel fabric is so sought after that the mills that it is produced in are back-ordered for 18 months. And it’s no wonder why: the gravity-fed, low tension knit is extravagantly comfortable. The tee is light, airy and soft and is cool to the hand – in other words, the perfect addition to your summer wardrobe. The fabric weighs in between 7.5 and 8oz, so it’s a great medium-heavyweight for a knit tee for your everyday.
The Fit
Long-staple cotton helps prevent twisting on the body and provides an ideal length to wear either tucked or untucked. The tee has a relaxed fit through the chest and features comfortably wide shoulders. The shirt is pre-shrunk so you can choose the size that fits best and feels confident it will stay that way. Plus, Loopwheel knits famously lack any side seams, which dials up the comfort factor.
