Since its founding in 2011, Worn & Wound has been at the forefront of the watch enthusiast space. Over those 14 years, the folks behind the brand have built its sterling reputation not by placating watch fanatics but by being watch fanatics themselves.

While that expertise doesn’t always translate to the watchmaking business, this collective appears to be just as adept at craft as critique. And the Brew x Worn and Wound Metric Chrono Regulator Lumint is here to prove it.

A beautiful friendship

This definitely isn’t the first time Worn & Wound has made a watch. It’s not even the first time the brand has partnered with The Brew to reimagine the latter’s Regulator series. But it does seem like a massive step in the evolution of that series.

This time, these brands focused on a single model instead of releasing a collection (the original collab consisted of a trio of different colorways). And the results are, in a word, stunning.

The seemingly stripped-down dial has a hidden secret: the whole thing is lumed.

This new design — a monochromatic take on the chronograph — is inspired by the grit and grime of ’90s action movies. It’s far more minimalist in its styling than the first Regulator collab, which is definitely a good thing.

But the seemingly stripped-down dial has a hidden secret: the whole thing is lumed. The dial surface glows blue, whereas its markers are done-up in green, helping the watch remain clear and readable even in the lowest light conditions.

More than meets the eye

Despite the minimalist colorway and styling, this watch has a lot going on. While that might seem obvious — it is a chronograph — it speaks to the incredible balance struck by Brew and Worn & Wound.

For instance, the hour subdial — a standard feature in regulator watches — is split into dual 12-hour segments instead of a typical, single 0-24 scale for easier reading. Furthermore, it is split into light and dark to help better distinguish between AM and PM at a glance.

It also boasts 12- and 6-hour markers at the cardinal points, helping it stylistically mirror the opposing seconds subdial. This is all to say that a ton of thought, planning and effort went into this seemingly minimalist design.

Fresh yet familiar

Not everything about Brew’s Regulator has changed in this collaboration. The watch’s size (36mm) and shape remain, as does the integrated bracelet.

Even the contrasting pusher at the 2 o’clock position — a mainstay of the Brew’s style — is reflected in this watch. However, it’s gunmetal gray in this case, as opposed to a bright pop of color as in other examples.

The movement, Seiko’s VK68 Mecha-Quartz, also remains. This hybrid movement is one of the highlights of the original watch series, so it’s good to see that it hasn’t gone anywhere. It also helps keep the watch pretty incredibly affordable.

Pricing and availability

The Brew x Worn and Wound Metric Chrono Regulator Lumint is available now at a shockingly low $549.

However, it won’t last, as only 500 examples were made. If you’ve got an eye on this watch, you should probably smash that purchase button while you can.
