Arc’teryx has partnered with xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) artist and designer
Cole Sparrow-Crawford to launch a new initiative called Walk Gently. What originally started as a capsule gear collection soon expanded into a broader platform to raise awareness for the traditions of the Indigenous communities living along the Coast Salish region of Canada, where Arc’teryx is located. The seven-piece gear collection, inspired by the summer traditions of the people in the region, such as fishing, canoeing, or walking in the woods, is available in select stores. For example, the capsule includes a Beta lightweight jacket with a salmon-skin pattern (shown above being worn by a community member) as well as relaxed-fit cargo shorts inspired by the cedar harvested to create canoes. Profits from sales will also go to
Indigenous Women Outdoors, which promotes and empowers well-being among Indigenous women and girls. In addition to the clothing, short films and behind-the-scenes content created by Sparrow-Crawford’s sister help provide deeper insights into the culture of Coast Salish Indigenous communities.
