Away’s New Daily Backpack Comes Extra Organized for Commuters

The fan-favorite suitcase brand’s new backpack has a “pocket-forward” design.

Away, one of our all-time favorite luggage brands, is no stranger to backpacks — it’s produced a wide variety of them over the years. However, its newest one, the Commuter Backpack, is a little bit different from the rest.

How, you ask? For starters, it’s got more pockets.

Pockets galore

The Commuter Backpack has a “pocket-forward design,” according to Away. It features two separate zippered compartments and a new interior organization system with 50 percent more pockets than any of its other backpacks. There’s even a key clip to ensure your keys don’t get lost deep inside the bag.

On the outside, there are four quick-access pockets, including a padded exterior pocket that can fit a 16-inch laptop as well as a slip pocket for a smaller tablet. On both sides of the Commuter Backpack are adjustable water bottle pockets, each large enough to fit a bottle of up to 48 ounces.

And, similar to the company’s other backpacks, there’s a convenient trolley sleeve for convenient travel with Away’s other suitcases.

Built for the commute

As the name suggests, the Commuter Backpack is designed for commuters. It’s tough and fairly compact, but it also has the bespoke and streamlined look you’ve come to expect from Away.

The backpack has a 25-liter capacity — which is fairly middle of the road for Away’s backpack offerings — and weighs 2.5 pounds when empty. Its eco-conscious design is made of 100 percent recycled nylon and 50 percent recycled leather trim.

Additionally, it has adjustable and padded straps and a breathable mesh back panel. According to the company, it’s the “ideal companion whether you’re headed to the office, a business trip, or traveling across town.”

Price and availability

The Commuter Backpack costs $225, making it one of Away’s more expensive backpack options. It’s available now.

You can order it in six different finishes: jet black, navy blue, coast blue, olive green, cloud gray, or salt white. Get it in the same color to match your current Away carry-on.
