Shoe collabs are a dime a dozen but most are iterative, not additive. Allen Edmonds, meanwhile, the American shoe brand behind the iconic Park Avenue Oxford, teamed up with Martone Cycling Co. for a shoe that actually aims to solve a problem.

Dress shoe? Cycling shoe? Call it what you want. Together with Lorenzo Martone, founder of Martone Cycling Co., Allen Edmonds reimagined its signature dress shoe, the Park Avenue Oxford, for urban cyclists.

The Park Avenue Velo features bike-friendly features like a harness inspired by old-school cycling footwear and rubber soles for better grip on pedals. Each pair also comes with a matching leather belt strap that addresses an all-too-common annoyance for urban bike commuters: pant legs getting caught in the chain.

Other details include a bench-welt construction and cork insoles that mold to wearers’ feet. The Park Avenue Velo is made by hand in Allen Edmonds’s factory in Port Washington, Wisconsin, and built on the company most popular last.

Availability and Pricing

The Park Avenue Velo costs $450 at launch and comes in three colors: black, light brown (Walnut) and red-brown (Dark Chili).

“I’ve always admired what Allen Edmonds stands for,” Martone said in a press release. “Our two brands have a mutual passion for craftsmanship, design and quality.”
