Since 1961, Birdwell Beach Britches has built its name on high-quality nylon board shorts made in southern California. From stitching up trunks for local surfers — in the Birdwell home, of course — to crafting an entire line of premium garments, the brand is a mainstay of beachwear and SoCal style. Recently, the brand teamed up with Australia-based brand All My Relations for a special version of Birdwell’s classic Aloha Field Jacket.

Built upon the frame of classic military BDU jackets, the Aloha Field Jacket is cut from a light yet tough cotton ripstop with four expandable patch pockets, redwood buttons and a removable velcro ‘aloha’ name patch. The special edition is accented with cotton Tropical Paradise Aloha print fabric as reinforcement at the placket and yoke as well.

But the true centerpiece of the jacket is its custom embroidery, an aloha and hibiscus flower meticulously chainstitched by All My Relations. Founded by multi-disciplinary artist Kai Brown in 2015, All My Relations focuses on crafting highly-detailed chainstitch embroidery onto vintage garments and patches, having done work for big artists like Jay-Z and Better Than Ezra as well as labels like Outerknown and Ron Herman.

The exclusive collaboration is limited to just 30 pieces and 100 percent of the proceeds are going to local Australian state fire services in an effort to relieve the devastating Australia fires.
