What happens when you ask an Apple designer to design a boot? R.M. Williams has the answer. As part of their craft-focused Undeniable Character initiative, iconic Australian bootmaker R.M. Williams has just introduced their Yard Boot 365, a heritage-influenced boot with a tech-chic design.
The boots mark R.M. Williams’ first-ever collaboration and they’ve tapped decorated designer Marc Newson, who’s worked with Apple and Louis Vuitton, for the project. Newson looked to their Gardener Boot, first introduced in the 1950s, for inspiration and adapted the midcentury work boot to meet the demands of the modern worker.
The Yard Boot 365 features the shorter shaft of the Gardener Boot with a wholecut leather upper fixed to a unique wraparound elastic gusset, full leather lining, Poron padding and a chunky, yet sleek rubber outsole. The collaboration aims to be more than just a drop in the bucket, envisioning it becoming another icon of the brand’s lineup. Available in six different colors, the boots cost $345.
