Zero Halliburton made a name for itself crafting government-grade suitcases since 1938. The all-American company supplied transport and storage for lunar samples brought back on the Apollo missions, and also makes the suitcase containing nuclear launch codes — dubbed the “nuclear football” — carried day and night by the U.S. President’s security detail. Needless to say, a Zero Halliburton suitcase is one of the most secure and sturdy options you can buy.
This year the brand released its Collectors Series: two limited-edition travel suitcases in heat-treated black or silver 6061 aluminum, featuring two-step locking systems that include a biometric fingerprint sensor in addition to a standard TSA-approved lock. The cases also come with a six-roller “Zeroller” maneuvering system, a nice step up from the two- and four-wheeled designs found on most suitcases. The two sizes on offer are the 22-inch carry-on case (800 available) and a 26-inch travel case (just 500 available), allowing well-appointed travelers to pick a size that works for them.
At $1,495 for the carry-on and $1,795 for the travel case, these Collectors Series pieces aren’t inexpensive. But if you travel far and often, especially with precious cargo, you might want to take a hint from NASA on this one.
