The Japanese denim industry wouldn’t have nearly the respect it has today if it wasn’t for Studio D’Artisan. Founded in 1979 by Shigeharu Tagaki, the Osaka-based brand made a name for itself by using deadstock hardware on jeans and by being the first company to produce shuttle loom-woven, hank-dyed jeans in Japan. Now almost four decades later, the Studio D’Artisan is still producing some of the best products available and it has greatly expanded its product offering.
Of its full range of clothing, the Loopwheeled Crewneck Sweater is a perennial favorite. This season, the brand produced an aged version that looks and feels like a vintage favorite. The cotton sweater features a brushed interior, flatlock seams and a throwback ‘V’ neck collar. The fabric is yarn dyed (available in indigo and black colors) and hard washed, giving the appearance of a decades-old crewneck that’s been washed countless times.
