Canadian footwear brand Viberg is best-known for its high-end leather boots, but today it announced the addition of a sailing-inspired sneaker and a casual slip-on. The new Deck Shoe is the brand’s take on the WWII-era sneakers developed for and worn by members of the US Navy, while the Slip On is inspired by the style made famous by the skaters of Southern California in the 1970s and ’80s. Both styles traditionally feature canvas, but Viberg has given the shoes heavyweight leather uppers. Likewise, both sneakers feature a hardwearing Margom sole (used for the best sneakers on the market) and cup sole construction, a technique that helps keep shoes lightweight, flexible and comfortable. They’re a luxurious update to classic styles, and they’ll set you back by a luxurious price: the shoes start at $390.
