About two-and-a-half years ago, the California-based menswear designer John Elliott caused a bit of a splash with a menswear collection during which models walked alongside a long reflecting pool. The next day, the buying team at SSENSE told him that they liked it so much that he should find a way to commemorate it with a special product. Off the cuff, he told them he’d do a special edition Yamaha Wave Runner. And on Friday, he finally delivered on that promise.
Elliott’s collaboration with Yamaha does include a pretty sweet red-and-white gradient version of the infamous personal watercraft. But there are also long-sleeved t-shirts, a beach towel, a cap, a pair of board shorts and the designer’s famously well-designed hoodies. They’re all the kinds of things you’d need to soak up a final day at the beach before it gets too cold to enjoy the shoreline.
