MSCHF lit the internet on fire in February with a flurry of social media commentary, jokes and memes about its Big Red Boots. With people like Ciara, Sarah Snyder and Lil Wayne taking part in the clunky trend, it sent shockwaves through online fashion communities.
Now, MSCHF teamed up with Crocs for its newest collaboration that’s just as bizarre and intriguing.
What is the MSCHF x Crocs Collab?
The point of the Big Yellow Boot is to “create something totally transformed and instantly recognizable,” according to MSCHF. And, presumably, to make the Big Red Boots social media magic happen again. The new collab ups the ante and adds Crocs’ signature ventilation holes over the upper of the boots and a dual-position heel strap along the back for security.

MSCHF x Crocs Big Yellow Boot
MSCHF states that since your toes can get wet in the rain, the Big Yellow Boot is technically a sandal, but the boots can’t hold any of Crocs’ signature Jibbitz despite their characteristic Croc-style holes. The Big Yellow Boots have a knee-high silhouette just like the red boots that came before.

There are no laces, minimal tread and little arch support. Also they don’t really pair well with anything you already have in the closet for the most part, but the point is clear: virality.
Fun Followup, or Too Much Too Soon?
Will this pair of weirdo boots become another viral hit? The potential is there. After all, it’s Crocs and a Big Yellow Boot. Not only that, but this collab continues to establish MSCHF’s brand as a creative clothing brand while showing that more notable brands like Crocs are willing to step outside the box and work with the art collective. How many times have you seen big boots with ventilation holes all over them?
