To commemorate the 60th anniversary of NASA’s first manned space program, Project Mercury, Heddels teamed up with PF Flyers for a super-limited run of sneakers. In the late ’50s, B.F. Goodrich (the parent company of PF Flyers at the time) produced the spacesuits used by Mercury 7 astronauts John Glenn, Alan Shepard and Gus Grissom. The astronauts also wore PF Flyers during ground training. With that in mind, the Mercury All American sneakers feature a period-correct silhouette made from heat-resistant aluminized Nomex (similar to the original spacesuit). They also include paracord laces, orange linings and nickel-alloy eyelets (referencing the material used on the Mercury space capsule). Only 21 pairs were made; available for $380 by lottery only.
