Love Sports? Like Fashion? Keep Up with Both on These Instagram Accounts

Athletes are better influencers than influencers themselves.

Sports are more popular than ever — as such, so are its athletes. They’re becoming bigger than the box score by betting on investing, gaming and, most commonly, fashion. You can follow along with all of the biggest stars — and their mega fits — on a handful Instagram accounts dedicated to documenting their pre-game looks, whether it’s when they arrive in the tunnel (a nickname for the walkway to the locker room) or run out onto the field for warmups.

Most high-profile athletes re-share the images captured by their respective teams’ social media managers, paparazzi snaps from outside the hotels they stay in for away games and professional photos taken during public appearances, at say, backstage with their favorite musician (and new friend), on stage at award shows and such. Following accounts that aggregate the best of these looks into one feed frees up the time you would’ve spent searching for these photos on your own.

Below you’ll find accounts dedicated to basketball, football, baseball, hockey and soccer stars — specifically, the clothing they wear, how they do their hair and the sneakers they collect.

LeagueFits

LeagueFits, which is run by Slam, the foremost basketball magazine, launched in 2018. That’s when, with the help of Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant and LeBron James, the concept of athletes as models really took off. It was also the dawn of the influencer. This intersection made LeagueFits the ideal follow, and, as such, the account’s amassed nearly one million followers in just three years. Go here for photos of athletes from the NBA and WNBA exclusively.

ProTrending

Dubbed “where fashion, sports, and e-commerce meet,” ProTrending has a finger to the pulse that links sports and fashion. The account aggregates the best outfits from athletes in nearly every sport, plus the places you that can buy the pieces they’re wearing from. Did you see a jacket on JJ Watt you want for your own collection? You can probably click through ProTrending’s page to find it.

UpscaleHype

UpscaleHype reaches beyond just athletes to cover their celebrity friends, too. On this foundational influencer and athlete style spotting page, which is run by brothers Kyle and Allen Onyia, you’ll find athletes’ images decoded: the brands they’re wearing, even when they’re nearly impossible to identify. The team behind this account knows its stuff, and will quickly post an outfit as soon as there’s photographic proof of it.

BlitzFits

As the name implies, BlitzFits focuses on NFL players only. But, with 53 athletes to a team, there are a whole hell of a lot of fits to filter through. BlitzFits does an excellent job of not only finding these pictures but picking only the best ones to post. And, as expected, they’re most active on the weekends, when NFL games are played.

Slam Kicks

Founded in 1999 but hosted as an Instagram for only a few years now, Slam Kicks keeps up with sneaker culture — specifically those worn by basketball players both on and off the court. The NBA is rare in that its fans can often find and wear, in almost every setting, the sneakers its athletes wear. Fans can’t wear football cleats at home; same goes for soccer. So, the NBA and its biggest brands (Nike, Jordan, etc) have a leg up, thus building an industry of its own. Stay tuned in through Slam Kicks.

MLB Fits

MLB Fits fills its grid with images of professional baseball players, whether they’re in the tunnel, on the field or at-home in the offseason. Stay on top of new jersey releases, outfits worn by the game’s biggest stars and even collaborations between the MLB (or its teams) and major fashion brands — like the Yankees and Gucci or Aimé Leon Dore and the Mets.

NSS Sports

NSS Sports is a subsection under NSS Magazine, an Italian publication founded in 2012. It’s grown into a go-to source for all of Europe, because it dabbles in so much: streetwear, culture, sneakers, fashion, art and trend forecasting — and, of course, football. Follow for a healthy mix of breaking news, moodboarding and memes.
