One of the most exciting moments in preparation for a new Premier League season is the release of the new team kits. Today, Liverpool FC has released its new Nike home and training jerseys for the 2021-2022 season. It’s based on the famous kit from the 1964 season — the first time Liverpool wore all red. The club’s manager in 1964, Bill Shankly, famously chose the red kit as he felt it would provide them with a psychological edge — in his words, “red is for danger and red is for power.” The kit also features a fossil-colored Nike swoosh logo, LFC crest and updated Standard Chartered sponsor mark, which calls to mind jerseys of the 1990s. It will also be Liverpool’s most sustainable kit yet — each jersey (both on-field and replica) is constructed from 100-percent recycled polyester fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. Both the home and training shirts are available for pre-order, and will be available from the Liverpool FC online store and in-store starting on June 3, 2021.
