The Essential Style of Summer 2017

Four outfits to wear when the temperature rises.

Bermuda is a 90-minute direct flight from NYC. The island’s 21 square miles are covered in sandy coves bordering clear blue waters. There are rolling hills dotted with pastel houses, and the island basks in a subtropical climate that rarely dips below 60 degrees (winters can get chilly — so be forewarned). It’s a warm-weather playground for people who love to boat and swim, with plenty of European influence for those with a more “cosmopolitan” idea of relaxation (yachts, not kayaks). When packing for a trip to Bermuda — or any other summery destination — keep your outfits simple. Summer style excels when you pare down outfits to their essentials. As always, focus on quality garment construction, but in the absence of layering, aim to incorporate more colors, patterns or textures into your wardrobe. A minimal wardrobe doesn’t need to be plain; just keep it straightforward.
