Uniqlo’s been a familiar name attached to many a designer collaboration. Projects with lauded names like Engineered Garments and JW Anderson have been highly successful, eliciting numerous iterations. But for the modern minimalist master Jil Sander, fans have been waiting, if not patiently, painfully. The two first collaborated over a decade ago in 2009 for the +J collection which drew praise and crowds to the worldwide retailer. Their collaboration lasted until 2011 when they decided to halt their partnership.

Finally, the two have reunited and the latest +J collection is for sale today. The collection takes military icons as well as classic tailoring and workwear and brushes it into a subdued color palette and Sander’s eye for sculptural silhouettes. It’s minimal, but not bare. It’s sophisticated and fashion-forward with one foot planted in the sartorial evergreen. Standouts include a merino wool embroidered cardigan that’s already nearly sold out, a relaxed bomber jacket, an oversized down-filled parka and, well, basically every piece of outerwear in the collection.

Thankfully it looks like we can count on a few more seasons beyond this one. The renewed relationship promises to see future iterations in limited drops, saying “flexible deliveries of smaller collections will facilitate a fluid response to the market.”

If you’ve been waiting on the two to get back together, don’t wait any longer. It’s selling out fast.
