As fall transitions into winter, dressing for the weather on any given day becomes more and more of a gamble. Overdress and you’ll be sweating all morning; underdress and you’ll be shivering all afternoon. Having a jacket that’s substantial enough on its own but easy to layer underneath as it gets colder is crucial to keeping warm as the weather does the opposite — and Carhartt’s Gilliam Jacket is designed for exactly that. It’s warm, water-repellent and shockingly lightweight — with a durable CORDURA® shell to protect against scrapes and scuffs. Learn more about what makes this jacket perfect for the coming cold below.

1.

Warmth Without The Weight: The outer shell of the Gilliam Jacket is cut from a lightweight and highly durable CORDURA® fabric. At just 1.75 ounces, the shell is lighter than most t-shirts while providing resistance to tears, scuffs and abrasions.

2.

Snow What?: The Gilliam Jacket is coated in Carhartt’s Rain Defender® durable water repellent (DWR), designed to keep the warmth in and the wet out. That means whether or not you expected it, this jacket will keep you dry and moving when the weather gets worse.

3.

Ready For Anything: Carhartt designed the Gilliam Jacket to be worn with inner or outer layers as needed. It’s got 100g of polyester insulation for warmth, so it will work well on its own or if the weather gets extra chilly, you can easily add an extra layer underneath for a bit of an insurance policy.
