New York City-based company Mott & Bow sources premium denim from family-run Italian mill Candiani for two new jean models: the Staple and the Warren. These latest launches continue to expand on Mott & Bow’s tradition of offering the best denim for a fair price — either new wash costs $128. Founder Alejandro Chahin chose to work with Candiani because both companies share a philosophy: sourcing quality materials and a cost that reflects Mott & Bow’s commitment to keeping prices down, made possible by their direct-to-consumer model.

That business model affords customers who aren’t sure of sizing to choose two waist sizes, decide the best fit at home, and send the second pair back for free. Though it’ll be hard to part with even a pair that doesn’t fit perfectly. Established in 1938 near Milan, industry powerhouse Candiani uses only 100 percent organic cotton in their mills, and 90 percent of the fabric made is stretch denim — their specialty. The mill has experimented extensively with how the stretch denim weft is spun, the inclusion of elastomers and how the fabric is finished. They’ve found that when elastomers like Lycra DualFX of Nylon 66 are core-spun into the cotton, the resulting denim has surprising comfort from the first wear, retains a good handfeel and will stand up to years of use.

The two new jean models will cover your denim needs for all seasons and purposes. The Warren is a mid-rise jean, made of 12.5-ounce denim in a worn-in medium-blue wash, and is perfect for casual outfits and laid-back weekends. The Staple is a dark-wash 11.5-ounce jean, suitable for the office or a date night. Both the Warren and the Staple come in three distinct fits — Skinny, Slim and Straight — to fit a range of body types and aesthetics.

With a long family heritage in denim, Chahin founded Mott & Bow to change consumers access to high-end denim. With this new partnership with Candiani, the gateway to one of the most prestigious denim mills in Italy is now as easy as it is affordable.
