“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Wise advice, to be sure, but there’s not a lot of room for grey areas in this sage phrase. I posit an update: “If it ain’t broke, you can still improve it.” This minor tweak leaves room for enhancements, upgrades and refinement — and makes the case for WESN’s latest release, the Founder’s Line.
Does premium = perfect?
Launching today, the Founder’s Line is WESN’s most premium collection of knives to date, the culmination of a dream to create the perfect pocket knife. WESN founder Billy Chester has talked about his ideal knife since the inception of the brand, and seven years later, his team made it happen.

What constitutes the perfect knife, in Chester’s mind? Damasteel. Titanium. Green japanese denim micarta. Sounds pretty epic, right? It gets even better. Every knife in the WESN line — the Microblade, Allman, Henry, Samla, and Bornas — now comes in a Founder’s Line ultra-premium version. There’s only one catch — this collection is super limited, as only 60 of each knife will get the Founder’s Line treatment — which makes the chances of getting your paws on one of these knives pretty slim.
These knives are the same, but different
As I mentioned above, the full WESN line will be available in the Founder’s Line style. All the specs — including blade lengths, weights, total lengths and locking mechanisms, to name a few — will be the same as the original versions of each of the knives.
Consider the Founder’s Collection to be an upgraded, rarified version of all the WESN knives you’ve come to know and love. Knives like the Allman, which our editors are kind of obsessed with. Or the Henry, which stays in my bag constantly and is officially my EDC knife of choice.
