I am a huge fan of using a backpack for EDC and travel purposes. In fact, I’m a staunch advocate for using a backpack instead of a rolling carry-on. But the fact remains: not all backpacks are up to snuff.

In order to really nail down all the most important factors, a bag needs to be durable on the outside (and it definitely helps if it looks good), spacious on the inside, offer some measure of organization (bonus points for customization) and more.

Go anywhere, any time, in any weather

One of the key features of the Prvke across its editions has been its exterior durability. That has returned in full force with this fourth edition. The bag is weatherproof, aided in part by its roll-top closure, helping to ensure its contents stay dry in any conditions.

But its exterior toughness is only a part of the equation. This bag also sports numerous improvements to make it easier and more convenient to carry, whether that’s around the city, through the airport or even on the trails.

For instance, in addition to its roll-top closure, it offers new quick zipper access for speedier entry. Side access has been enlarged to make it easier and more convenient. The zippers have been upgraded to DWR-coated YKKs for additional weatherproofing.

Furthermore, the back panel, shoulder straps and sternum strap have all been redesigned to be more durable and comfortable. Plus, the way the bag hugs your shoulders has been redesigned to be more ergonomic without hampering the clamshell access to the interior.

And that’s to say nothing of the returning features that already made the bag great, like its luggage pass-through and rolltop-securing strap.

A place for everything and everything in its place

While the exterior has been given a comprehensive redux, so has the inside. Four sizes are available — 15, 21, 31 and 41 liters — all outfitted the same.

The interior has a lighter colorway that improves visibility. The layout has also been thoroughly redesigned, making it more intuitive than ever.

The water bottle pocket, which doubles as a tripod pouch, is a bit taller, helping make it more secure. The hardware has been swapped for more durable, premium metal options. And the bag now has a dedicated AirTag pocket, so you can keep tabs on your belongings when you’re away from them (like in travel).

Wandrd has also improved one of its most important bag accessories, the Camera Cube. This extra insert is perfect for folks who travel with tech and accompanying accessories.

It also gets a lighter interior for better visibility, as well as improved sizing. There’s also now a Pro Cube that opens fully for faster access. Both the Essential and the Pro versions of the Camera Cube V2 are designed to work with the Prvke V4.

Pricing and availability

Currently, the Wandrd Prvke V4 backpack (and its companion EDC edition) is fully funded on Kickstarter six times over (and approaching seven). For reference, the project has already secured over $163,000 and still has nearly a month to go. It is undoubtedly going into production.
