For many, EDC is a game of millimeters and ounces. You only have so much pocket real estate, after all. But many folding knives that promise to shave off the weight often do it at the expense of functionality.

That’s not true for Vosteed’s Parallel. Not only is this the thinnest knife the brand has ever made, but it’s also fully featured. To say that this knife is a marvelous achievement might be underselling it.

Unfortunately for many, it sold out super quickly the first time it dropped just a few weeks ago. Luckily, it’s making a triumphant return. Plus, it got a couple of noteworthy upgrades.

What’s the skinny?

Obviously, the Vosteed Parallel’s big selling point is its ultra-thinness. But just looking at its skinnyness doesn’t quite do it justice. Perhaps a comparison can better illustrate this.

The James Brand launched the unbelievably slender Ellis Slim a little under a year ago. This knife measures 8mm wide, making it thinner than a pack of gum.

The Parallel is actually thinner than that, to the tune of only 7.1mm wide. But here’s the real kicker: While the Ellis Slim achieved this by sacrificing some features — namely a lock — the Parallel looks to have sacrificed nothing.

Although thin, the Parallel still supports a sturdy, secure, ambidextrous Crossbar lock, helping make it the “most pocket-friendly and carry-friendly knife in its class.”

Weighed and measured, found not wanting

Apart from its thinness, this knife has many other features to love. For instance, it has a strong, safe, and simple Crossbar lock, making it one of the thinnest locking knives ever built.

In the initial release, the blade was made from 154CM steel, commonly used in the aerospace industry to build turbine engines. However, the returning version sees that upgraded to another fan-favorite: S35VN.

Finally, the handle is made from precision CNC-machined grade 5 titanium, which makes it exceptionally strong and lightweight (the knife weighs only 2.3 ounces). As you can see, this knife is much more than a novelty. It’s a real EDC contender.

Get it while you can

The first run of Vosteed Parallel knives was released toward the tail-end of last year and sold out almost immediately. The second run, released at the end of January, sold out just as fast.

But the latest version, the one with S35VN steel, just dropped (9 PM EST on February 19, 2025). If you’re quick enough, you can grab it in your choice of two colorways: Blue-Stonewash or Dark Reddish Purple-Copper Dune.

The original Parallel was $129. The S35VN version is a little more expensive at $149. Even with the increased price, it’s likely to sell out nearly immediately.
