I already loved this tiny cutting tool, but the changes in this configuration make it even better than ever before.

When done well, I love a good tiny EDC knife. And let me tell you, the Vosteed Corgi V is one of my all-time favorites. From its cute styling to its cutting utility and, most especially, its pivot lock, it’s an outstanding knife.

That said, no knife is truly perfect; there’s always room for improvement. Vosteed appears to have taken this fact to heart, as the brand has taken this small everyday carry cutting tool back to the drawing board once again.

The Vosteed Corgi V 295 is somehow another major improvement to an ever-increasingly spectacular model series.

Same bark, bigger bite

The chief difference between this new Corgi V and the original is its size. Normally, I’d be more averse to increasing a small knife’s proportions, but I think it works with this one, and here’s why:

The original Corgi V is 5.85 inches long, with a 2.36-inch blade and a 3.49-inch handle. While I like the blade’s proportions — the drop point shape helps make its cutting edge longer — the handle is a bit stout. The best I could get is a three-finger grip.

This new version increases the overall size to 7.0 inches, with a 2.95-inch blade and 4.05-inch handle. That makes it more in line with typical pocket knife sizes, making for a better, firmer grip, while keeping the blade under the crucial 3.0-inch length limit (which is important for legal reasons).

It’s still a small knife, but its new size and excellent design will suit a much larger audience. In my humble opinion, more folks should own one.

I guess this is growing up

The larger size isn’t the only maturing this knife has undergone. It has also seen a few other dazzling alterations, some visible and others less so.

The aluminum handle, for instance, has new refined machining that gives the knife improved aesthetics and a better grip. The blade has also been upgraded to S35VN steel (from 14C28N).

There’s also a more budget-friendly version with G10 scales and N690 steel. But both of them retain the knife’s signature silhouette, dual deployments (front flipper and Wheeler Deployment) and, most importantly, that outstanding pivot-bades Vanchor Lock.

You really can’t go wrong with these new Corgi Vs, no matter which version you choose.

Available now (but going fast)

The aluminum and S35VN Vosteed Corgi V 295 is now available for $149. The more budget-friendly G10 edition is also available for $89.

However, some colorways are already running low, so you’d better buy quickly if you want one.
