Sometimes, smaller is better. This is often the case in the everyday carry world, where every ounce and inch counts. Of course, you don’t want to sacrifice too much quality or capability, either, so it’s a bit of a balancing act. Thankfully, with Vosteed’s latest knife release, those sacrifices aren’t at all necessary.
An evolution of another of the brand’s recent releases, the Corgi Pup is an exceptional example of just how good a small EDC knife can be across so many metrics. But don’t just take my word for it: check out this tiny titan for yourself.
The only real difference between the Corgi and Corgi Pup is the size
Vosteed’s Corgi was a fun knife release marked by a (mostly) symmetrical handle and, even better, a pair of dual flippers (on the front and back of the blade), both of which remain pleasingly functional without jutting outside the geometry of the handle. The Corgi Pup maintains that handle and flippers format, which is definitely a bright spot with this new take. Yet it does son while shaving down the blade length from 2.99 inches to just 2.37 — which is quite a lot when you get down to this size.

The blade isn’t the only part that sees a size reduction, either. The handle is also smaller overall, cutting the whole knife down to 5.93 inches from 7.17 — an almost 20 percent decrease. But the blade steel — 14C28N — titanium liners and patent-pending Trek Lock (a type of button lock) all remain.
The Corgi Pup comes in a whopping seven different versions — not just colorways
While even a single version of this new knife would be pretty damn cool, Vosteed went the extra mile and made a whopping seven different versions. And while the most apparent difference is the color of the handles, that’s not the only difference.

There are actually three different kinds of handle materials across the seven different colorways. The white, orange, purple and white-on-pink polka dotted ones are G10. The blue and green are Micarta. And the yellow semitransparent one is made from PEI. It’s also worth noting that the latter three (Micarta and PEI) also get their steel swapped for S35VN, which is harder and has better edge retention than 14C28N but isn’t as corrosion-resistant or easy to sharpen (altogether, however, they’re not different enough that most folks will notice).
Vosteed’s Corgi Pups are all available now ranging from $59 to $99 on the brand’s site.
