A mini multi-tool is only as good as it is useful. While that might seem obvious, what constitutes usefulness can vary significantly from person to person. While some believe less is more, others may want to maximize utility by including as many tools as possible.

However, it’s arguably more critical what those tools are, however many or few. That’s where the ThreePeters T-Rex shines. This micro-sized EDC multi-tool has many functions you’ve come to expect, but it also has a few more unusual ones that are surprisingly handy for the right person.

Dare I pry?

In its collapsed form, the T-Rex looks pretty inconspicuous, largely passing for a pretty basic prybar. However, this sneaky little tool unfolds to unveil a much larger array of functions than you might expect.

According to the brand, it boasts a whopping 12+ built-in functions. Some of those you can probably guess. Yes, there’s a pry bar and a nail puller. There are also multiple sizes of hex wrenches and a flathead driver.

However, those are just the beginning of what this thing can do. It also transforms into a smartphone stand, which is super handy for hands-off usage, like if you’re watching YouTube videos. It also has a SIM card ejector tool, a file and a ruler.

Believe it or not, it can also be used as a fire starter. Finally, it has a lanyard hole and even dual tritium slots for a touch of illumination. And it manages all of that while still remaining incredibly small.

Tiny titan

How small is it, you might ask? Well, it measures 3.15 inches long and 0.8 inches wide when collapsed. It also has a depth of just 0.31 inches. Together, that’s not much bigger than a pair of keys stacked atop one another.

Plus, it’s made of titanium. That means it’s also incredibly lightweight and magnificently strong. You’d be hard-pressed to push it to its limits even if you tried.

Furthermore, it’s available in two finishes: silver and black. The silver is raw sandblasted titanium, but the black gets a little bit of a durability and toughness boost thanks to its PVD coating.

Through the crowdfunding campaign, ThreePeters is also offering some handy add-ons that could boost the utility and personalization. They include custom laser engraving, a quick-release keychain, a necklace chain, tritium tubes and a lanyard bead. You can add as many or as few as you want to your pledge.

Pricing and availability

The ThreePeters T-Rex multi-tool is currently being funded on Kickstarter, starting at HK$459 (about $59). However, it’s already fully funded nearly five times over. Still, there’s almost a month left, meaning some stretch goals could add even more value before the project heads to production. Estimated delivery is December 2025.
