As product nerds know, lots of brands contain multitudes — or at least sub-brands under the larger umbrella that serve different markets, often from a price point perspective.
The first time this hit me was many years ago, when I learned that Banana Republic, The Gap and Old Navy were all the same company.
We see this a lot in the knife world, with Boker/Boker Magnum, WeKnife/Civivi and Artisan Cutlery/CJRB. Yet another example is Tenable, the more affordable sub-brand of fast-rising Chinese knife maker Kansept.
Tenable’s on our radar today because the recently launched Model 6 offers some pretty rare features for a $60 knife.

Overachieving EDC
While there are six different treatments of the Model 6, the one that stands out most is T1022V1. That’s because along with a cross bar lock, it also features a twill carbon fiber handle.
These two elements alone are quite compelling in a knife at this price point. In addition to being a super reliable locking mechanism, the cross bar lock can double as a deployment method so together with the ambidextrous thumb studs, you get two ways to unsheathe the blade.
