Salomon Refined This Trusty Trail Shoe but It’s Lowkey More Capable Than Before

Thanks to the smashing success of the XT-6, Salomon shoes are common sights on city streets and runways. Yet performance features remain paramount on every new shoe that arrives from the French manufacturer founded over three-quarters of a century ago.

Take, for example, the latest addition to Salomon’s experimental Advanced series blending technical innovation with progressive design.

The brand calls it the Genesis Advanced and it follows in the footsteps of last year’s versatile Genesis trail runner. However, there’s more to this update than a slew of streetwear-adjacent colorways.

Aesthetics aside

Like the original Genesis, the Advanced model boasts a bounty of technical attributes, including quick laces, an All Terrain Contagrip outsole and dynamic chassis.

It also comes with a state-of-the-art upper made with Matryx fabric; because it’s woven with Kevlar fibers, it’s highly breathable, lightweight and resistant to both wear and water.

If that’s where the original Genesis ended, the Advanced goes two steps forward with the additions of a TPU cage and reinforced cups around the heel and toebox for enhanced durability and support.

All that said, Salomon knows its audience stretches far and wide — meaning the Genesis Advanced debuts in a trio of pared-back colorways that appeal to hikers, hypebeasts and every demographic in-between.

Pricing and availability

The Genesis Advanced launches in black; blue and beige; and olive and pink. It’s available now from retailers such as End. for a price of $250 — $100 more than the standard Genesis model.
