While everyday carry gear — knives, watches, pens and so on — has continued to evolve over the years, storage solutions have stayed woefully behind the trends. If you’re an EDC fan, your storage solutions probably consist of boxes, drawers and maybe even desktop trays (if you have a solution at all).

But it doesn’t have to be this way, as RotoSelect is here to prove. This modular storage display might be the most clever, elegant solution ever for keeping your EDC organized and at the ready.

Top-down look at RotoSelect
A simple twist of the RotoSelect’s dial rotates your gear toward the top window.

You spin me right round.

Inspired by airplane engines and Braun’s design studio, the RotoSelect is shockingly simple in concept. It’s also magnificently executed from its design to its manufacturing.

It’s a round, recessed desktop device with internal modular storage shelves. Outside, it has a twist-operated wheel that spins the internal storage when rotated.

Above the internal wheel is a display window that doubles as a dust cover, protecting the gear inside. There’s also a separate, smaller rotating window that also acts as the primary access point. Turn the wheel until the gear you want is below the smaller window, and you can reach inside and grab it.

That smaller window also serves as a maintenance and customization access point. If you want to change out the internal modules, rotate the wheel until the module in question sits below it.

Customize your carry

Chances are, if you’re into everyday carry, you have a variety of gear you like to swap in and out of your loadout. Thankfully, the RotoSelect can be customized to your needs.

For instance, if you like a mix of watches, pens and knives, you can put in at least one module for each gear type. However, if you only want knife storage, you can install four knife modules and eschew the other options.

For reference, knife and pen modules can hold five of each type of gear, while watch modules only hold two watches each.

[The RotoSelect is] such a remarkably clever, simple solution that I can’t believe it didn’t already exist.

Better still, if your collection changes, the RotoSelect can be changed to suit your needs. If you didn’t have any watches before but now you do, you can easily swap out any other modules for a watch-specific one.

All you have to do is remove the mounting screw in the center of the module and change the module out for another one. Then, just put the screw back, and the module will stay securely in place. Honestly, it’s such a remarkably clever, simple solution that I can’t believe it didn’t already exist.

Coming (very) soon

The RotoSelect was launched on Kickstarter but has already smashed its $10,000 goal twice, bringing the current total to over $32,000. However, there’s still time to back it if you want one.

Pricing starts at $325. Only 500 units are being made, so they may run out if you don’t hurry.
