It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes, the best EDC knife releases of the year are unveiled without much fanfare and bombast. But these sneaky drops can have a big impact.

Curiously close to the end of the year, one such drop just hit our radar. Today, Quiet Carry releases The Catch, a sleek, minimalist folding knife hiding numerous impressive features.

Masterful materials

Though The Catch’s exterior design is clearly minimalistic, its materials are much more maximalist and high-end.

The handle and sturdy frame lock are made from lightweight, incredibly strong 6AL-4V titanium. That choice of material also makes it corrosion-proof.

But the handle pales in comparison to the blade. Made from powder metallurgical Vanax Superclean steel, the drop point blade boasts superb corrosion and wear resistance, as well as great toughness and machinability.

While they don’t come cheap, these material choices ensure The Catch will serve its owner faithfully and fastidiously for decades.

Inspired by the sea

While this knife’s name might have you thinking it’s too good to be true, it’s more straightforward than you might think. The Catch draws inspiration from the coast.

That means its moniker isn’t a reference to a hidden downside but to the concept of fishing. Looking closely, you’ll see that inspiration extending to the design.

The titanium handle scales, for instance, have a precision-machined cross-hatched grip pattern that resembles fishing nets. Furthermore, its gently curving silhouette harkens to the ebbs and flows of the ocean’s surface.

This subtlety exemplifies Quiet Carry’s exceptional, understated design language and overall production prowess.

Pricing and availability

The silver version of Quiet Carry’s The Catch costs $380. The black handle version gets a $5 bump, bringing it to $385.

While you can’t get them quite yet, they both drop on the brand’s site today, December 11, at 6 pm PST.
