Inspired by the United States Air Force’s MA-1 flight jackets, Porter’s Tanker bags are among Japan’s most iconic. These hard-wearing nylon packs, slings, totes, hip bags and more have helped Porter’s parent brand, Yoshida & Co., remain in business for a whopping nine decades.
To celebrate that milestone, the brand has launched the Porter Tanker Coyote 90th Anniversary bag collection. The limited edition series contains seven different bags, each of which is made up of only 300 units.

“Everything has changed, and nothing has changed”
Porter’s Tanker series has remained largely unchanged for decades. Since 1983, it has utilized the same durable nylon that gives it its iconic military-inspired styling. Recently, however, the brand made a big change.
Porter has announced that it has switched from petroleum-based nylon to “100-percent plant-based nylon.” The Tanker collection is the first mass-produced bag line in the world to utilize this material successfully.
It’s important to note that, while this change might seem worrisome to those who appreciate the durability and styling of traditional nylon, the brand has assured customers that nothing substantive has changed.
