Orbitkey Updated Its EDC Organizer to Open Like a Pocket Knife

Orbitkey follows up on its incredibly popular key organizer with an upgrade that lets you access the goods with one hand.

There’s no right way to carry your keys but some methods are better than others.

Near the top of the tier list you’ll find the Orbitkey — a clever little key organizer that launched on Kickstarter in 2013 to the tune of nearly 5,000 backers. A decade later, over one-million Orbitkeys have found their way into people’s EDC, the company says.

Orbitkey will hope its follow-up, the Orbitkey Pro, reaches similar heights. And why not? The refined key organizer launched on Kickstarter earlier this year and more than 6,000 backers pledged over $500,000 to bring the refined key organizer to life.

If you missed the boat, there’s good news. The Oribitkey Pro just landed on Oribitkey’s website.

The new Pro looks a lot like the OG Orbitkey but it includes more than 10 years of research and development, resulting in a tool that’s better in almost every way.

Perhaps the best addition is something Orbitkey calls the Quick Flip Tool, which allows users to access their most-used key with one hand.

The Orbitkey Pro also boasts tool-free, microadjustable hardware to add or remove keys in as little as 30 seconds, while an embedded spring mechanism locks them in place to prevent any jingling.

Users who found the original Orbitkey too short will find the new Pro more accommodating. It adds 3mm to fit keys up to 68mm long — such as Mortice Keys.

Finally, the updated handle features premium, sustainably sourced Napa leather (commonly used for car seats) and extra padding for increased durability and improved feel.

Pricing and availability

The OribitKey Pro is available now for $65 in four colors: black (with black hardware), dark green (with black hardware), Cedar tan (with brass hardware) and Sapphire blue (with nickel hardware).

Optional add-ons include a bottle opener, multi-tool and extension posts — all of which effectively turn the organizer into a bona fide SAK.
