The ‘World’s Most Durable Duffel’ Is Now a Slightly More Reasonable Buy

This advanced 70L duffel is ridiculously tough and light. It’s also very expensive. But now, it’s available for 30% off for the first time.

We’ll admit it. Over-engineered products get us going, but sometimes, even gear nerds like us scratch our heads at certain items that cross our desks.

The Toolbox Duffle bag from Norda is one of the more memorable recent examples of a product that intrigued and confused our team, mainly because of its unique blend of performance and eye-watering price.

Now, however, it’s on sale for the first time since it launched last summer, changing the bag’s value proposition definitely for the positive.

A Product Curveball from a Cult-Favorite Brand

Part of our surprise had to do with our pre-existing brand expectations.

We’ve long been fans of the Canadian running brand’s trail shoes, but we never suspected the company would suddenly delve into bags or luggage.

And as far as first entries go into a new product category, the Toolbox is an exceptionally bold first step.

Built from a Trending Super Material

Most popular adventure duffles, including Patagonia’s Black Hole series or The North Face and Base Camp line, are made from thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) or ripstop nylon.

Norda’s Toolbox is made instead of cutting-edge bio-based Dyneema, which the brand had previously integrated across its most popular running shoes.

We’ve got a full deep dive on the material for those curious to know more, but it’s casually known in material nerd circles as the world’s strongest fiber thanks to being 15 times stronger than steel.

It’s also exceptionally lightweight. As a result, the 70L Toolbox weighs a mere 1.9 pounds or 36% less than Patagonia’s 70L Black Hole duffle.

Combined with Traditional Adventure Duffel Capabilities

Alongside the innovative material, Norda also integrated many features found on other popular adventure duffles, with a few unique twists.

The bag boasts several mesh pockets for organizing gear and a separate stow bag, also made of Dyneema, to carry dirty shoes or clothes.

The Toolbox can also be lugged around in three different ways. It includes integrated backpack straps, a chest strap, and an emergency whistle on the buckle, which can all be cleverly removed if desired.

And since Norda is all about running, elastic bands are scattered across the bag to tie down hardware and prevent it from bouncing up and down while moving.

The Price of Perfection

All of this innovation and performance, however, doesn’t come cheap.

The Toolbox’s initial MSRP was $595 before tax, nearly three times the price of Patagonia’s 70L Black Hole, making it unapproachable for all but the most demanding adventurers flush with funds.

Now, though for a limited time, Huckberry is offering the bag for 30% off, or $179 less, which makes this incredible bag far more appealing, albeit still a clear luxury over other great options on the market.
