This Titanium Phone Stand Is Actually a 15-in-1 Multi-Tool in Disguise

With a clever folding design and magnetic closure, MeTool’s AceStand looks like the perfect pocket companion for smartphone loyalists.

·

Nowadays, there are a lot of ways you can make viewing things on your smartphone simpler and more ergonomic — ranging from Pop Socket-like devices that stick to the back of your phone to cases with integrated kickstands. Unfortunately, most of these products don’t do anything more than keep your phone upright while you look at it.

By contrast, the MeTool AceStand — a Kickstarter project that is already fully funded with about a month left to go — is a practical powerhouse. That’s because it’s not just a smartphone stand; it’s also a sleek and discreet multi-tool that can go toe-to-toe with the best of them. And it isn’t even that pricey for what it offers.

This smartphone stand is smaller than most pocket knives — and it’s tougher, too

Measuring up at just over four inches when closed, this slim EDC device is practically negligible when it comes to pocket space. And it’s remarkably lightweight, too, thanks to its primary material: titanium. It’s so small and slim, you might forget you’re carrying it until you need it — which is a very good thing.

You may find yourself reaching for this surprisingly small, incredibly useful titanium tool every single day.

But that material has other implications. It also means that, in normal usage, the AceStand is practically indestructible. Just don’t smash or stomp the hinge (or drop it from a great height), and you’re going to have a helpful device that will stick with your EDC loadout for longer than you’ll probably need it.

Of course, none of that means much if it doesn’t work for its primary purpose: serving as a smartphone stand. Thanks to its folding format and generous phone cutouts (which double as bottle openers), it’s compatible with pretty much any smartphone out today that would need a stand — and that’s true in both vertical and horizontal formats.

The AceStand packs a whopping 15-plus functions into its minuscule silhouette

If it were nothing but a smartphone stand, the AceStand would still be pretty cool. Thankfully, however, it’s punching way above its weight class courtesy of a whopping 15-plus integrated tools — making this much more of a multi-tool than a phone stand and launching its EDC value into the stratosphere.

What can’t this 15+ function multi-tool handle? Not much.

The list of additional tools is pretty staggering, but it includes a bottle opener, hex driver (with bit storage), hex wrenches, box cutter, glass breaker, pry bar, spoke wrench (for the cyclists), rulers, nail puller … you get the idea — it can do a whole lot.

Worth noting: While the promotional assets make operating this tool look super seamless, we have yet to test it ourselves (though we hope to soon). Also, it lacks a blade, but considering how useful such a stand would be for watching movies on your phone on a flight, we kinda appreciate the TSA-friendliness.

Since it has more than tripled its goal, the MeTool AceStand is already a successful campaign and will definitely go into production. But you can still back the project now and score one of your own starting at just $59. Just don’t wait, as the early bird prices won’t last forever (although, to be fair, the $79 MSRP is still very reasonable for what this EDC titan offers).
