Luminox’s Navy SEAL 3500 timepieces are renowned as some of the toughest tool watches on the planet. And that makes sense, as they were designed to survive the rigors of some of the most extreme military operations.

The brand has turned the next page in the watches’ exceptional history with the latest take, the Luminox Navy SEAL 3500 Carbonox. Due to a novel construction, this is the lightest this diver has ever been, yet it’s still just as formidable as ever.

Lighter than ever before

This watch’s lightness hinges on Luminox’s proprietary Carbonox material, which is incredibly rugged and is a signature of the whole Navy SEAL 3500 series. However, this particular edition is special.

That’s because this is the first time the watch case, bezel and even bracelet have all been crafted from Carbonox. Previous editions have seen the case and even bezel made of Carbonox, but this is the most thoroughly Carbonox-ed ever.

This is the first time the watch case, bezel and even bracelet have all been crafted from Carbonox.

That makes this the lightest Navy SEAL 3500 watch ever (with a link-style bracelet). For reference, the last version to launch is the Arctic Edition, which has a rubber strap (typically far lighter), yet weighs the same 71 grams.

This watch is remarkably tough despite (or perhaps because of) its Carbonox-ification. The material is a “high-performance, carbon-based material that is ultralight, hypoallergenic, and highly resistant to temperature fluctuations, chemicals, and impacts.”

True to its heritage

Luckily, much of what makes this watch series so special remains in this new all-Carbonox edition. That includes elements like its Ronda 515 Swiss quartz movement, which is reliable, durable (with a 20ATM water-resistance rating) and good for 50 months of operation before it requires a battery swap.

The dial and bezel also retain the series’ signature: Luminox Light Technology (LLT), which stays illuminated for a whopping 25 years. These markings can be found around the dial at the hour markers, on the hands, and at the zero position on the rotating dial.

Furthermore, the 12 o’clock marker, minute hand and bezel marker are orange to help distinguish them from the green of the rest.

Final details include a hardened mineral crystal, screw-down crown (with crown protectors) and 316L steel clasp.
