Appearances can be deceiving. For instance, the black-footed cat looks like an adorable little kitten, but it’s actually the deadliest, most successful hunter in the animal kingdom.

This idiom applies to everyday carry and knifemaking, too. Take the LionSteel Myto MagnaCut, for instance. This tactically-styled, pre-distressed flipper is actually an elegant EDC flipper in disguise. Of course, it’s also incredibly tough, making it the best of both worlds.

Dystopian refinement

The Myto is an existing model in LionSteel’s catalog. However, a new trio of treatments differs from the existing offerings in some notable ways.

They have black-finished MagnaCut super steel blades, unlike the Böhler M390 of the more standard editions. This makes them a bit tougher, though they retain the same drop-point shape and 3.27-inch length.

Despite [their] seemingly hardcore details, these knives still have plenty of refinement to go around.

On the presentation side, they’ve also been affixed with a fat carbon fiber handle scale. This layered material looks pre-distressed, giving the knives an almost sinister, war-torn appearance.

That ruggedness is furthered by the presence of a tungsten carbide glass breaker tip on the handles’ tail, which is a handy, emergency-ready addition.

Despite these seemingly hardcore details, these knives still have plenty of refinement to go around.

Devilish details

If you pay attention solely to their looks, you might not see these Mytos for what they truly are: exceptionally high-quality EDC flippers. However, if you look a little closer at the specs, you might find yourself smitten.

For example, they have reliable frame locks, deep carry pocket clips and buttery-smooth Double Crown ball bearing pivot systems — all elements that make for exceptionally reliable EDC knives.

Their lock bar is also reinforced with a steel insert, helping to protect the titanium from wearing down with repeated blade rotation. Most notably, the flipper is removable — a handy quirk of other LionSteel knives, as well — allowing you to turn it into a manual folder if you prefer.

These knives are 7.91 inches long and weigh 3.70 ounces, making them perfect for everyday carry. However, if you pick one up, you might have trouble putting it back down. You’ve been warned.
