This Supernatural New Knife Goes All in on Design and Materials

The Kansept Deadite’s groovy moniker is matched only by its premium blade and handle. (Somewhere, Bruce Campbell shudders.)

Any Evil Dead franchise fans out there? If so, you are no doubt quite familiar with the concept of deadites.

For the uninitiated, we turn to Fandom’s Evil Dead sub-site, which describes them thus: “Deadites are a species of undead parasitic demonic spirits which feed on the souls of living creatures and possess their bodies.”

The combo of rippling Damascus steel and swirling carbon fiber give the K1081A2 variant particular spectral appeal.

(You could also call them the bane of Ash’s existence, as the original trilogy’s protagonist — portrayed by the great Bruce Campbell — is constantly battling these zombie freaks.)

Naturally, if you’re going to name a knife after such terrors, it had better be pretty fantastic. I dare say Kansept’s new Deadite is just that.

Better off Deadite

Designed by YouTuber-turned-knife maker Geoff Blauvelt, founder of Tuff Knives, the Deadite offers much more than a supernatural moniker.

Now, it’s no Kandarian Dagger, but its form and function are freakily formidable enough that we would not be surprised to come across it in the Necronomicon.

The blade is a fine-tipped 3.52-inch clip point made of CPM-S35N or Damascus steel, offering precision, durability and cutting performance ideal for tackling everyday chores as well as more challenging backcountry tasks.

The latter blade material deserves particular attention. Notable for the rippling pattern formed by the blending of multiple metals, Damascus steel boasts not only ancient origins but also exceptional edge retention.

Perhaps even more compelling than the Deadite’s blade? Its handle. The ergonomically shaped sheath is constructed of titanium alloy and carbon fiber, resulting in serious strength and durability. Together, they give all six versions of the knife uniquely stunning looks.

To deploy the blade itself, you have a couple of options: ambidextrous thumb studs and a grippy flipper. Caged ceramic ball bearings help deliver a smooth release, while a sturdy frame lock keeps that sharp steel firmly in place.

The K1081A2 variant is the only one with a pocket clip that almost disappears against the handle. This point of distinction plus the Damascus steel blade are two of its most compelling qualities.

Overall, the knife measures an impressive 8.23 inches and weighs 4.4 ounces. A tip-up clip makes it easy to tote in your pocket, ready to spring into action whenever an actual Deadite strikes.

Or, you know, there are apples to be sliced.
