Though known best for its running shoes, Hoka is no slouch when it comes to all-terrain footwear. In fact, the Kaha 2 GTX earned kudos as the most cushioned offering on our list of the best hiking boots.

Whether you like hiking, Hoka or both, today is a big day. The brand has unveiled the successor to its cushy, waterproof hiking boot. And the aptly named Hoka Kaha 3 GTX is even better than ever in some significant ways.

Waterproofed to perfection

Like the previous generation, the Hoka Kaha 3 GTX has a waterproof nubuck leather exterior. But beneath it, a new layer of Gore-Tex Invisible Fit is also present.

It promises “durably waterproof, totally windproof, and breathable protection” while maintaining the footwear’s fit, feel, and comfort. That means these boots are as comfortable as they are weatherproof and durable, making them ideal for all-day wear in all conditions.

More comfortable and capable than ever

The updated, improved waterproofing is only one of the many upgrades these hiking boots have gotten.

Other noteworthy additions include a cozy sock liner to combat foot fatigue, improved Achilles protection to stave off trail debris, and a bouncier and more responsive dual-density sugarcane EVA midsole.

Outside, it has a one-piece Vibram Megagrip outsole ideal for tackling even the most uneven terrain. It’s also equipped with a Metarocker for smooth stepping anywhere.

While subtle differences exist between the mid-length boot and the low-top sneaker, most features (especially the new improvements) are present across both styles.
