In some ways, it’s a minor miracle the Shard even exists.
Developed by Gerber as a promotional giveaway for trade shows such as SHOT, public demand for the tool grew so widespread and so loud, the company eventually caved in and released the Shared to the general public.

Some 15 years later, it exists as one of the company’s most iconic and enduring inventions — a 7-in-1 multi-tool that includes a pry bar, wire stripper, two flathead screwdrivers, cross driver, bottle opener and lanyard hole.
Hell, it’s even TSA-friendly — assuming, of course, the assigned agent is having a good day. Not bad for something that measures just 2.75 inches, weighs a single ounce and feels right at home on a carabiner, tucked in-between keys.

All to say, the Shard packs a ton of utility into tool that costs all of $7.
