Schuss, schuss … skkkrrrchhhh! Anyone who’s skied a steep groomer that suddenly turns hard and icy knows that sound and feeling.

You are cruising along smoothly and the next thing you know, your skis are chattering all over the place, tanking your confidence and potentially jeopardizing your safety.

Don’t fear the chatter: Fischer’s RC4 Noize skis are specifically designed to kiss it goodbye.

Recognizing this dilemma, Fischer’s latest top-shelf skis are aimed squarely at helping competitive racers and generally hard-charging, high-velocity skiers cope.

The aptly named RC4 Noize Collection boasts tech designed specifically to minimize vibration and optimize control when you need it most.

If it works as advertised, it could be the biggest deal for people who regularly ski hardpack since 1990, when Elan introduced the SideCut eXtreme, parabolic skis that made carving infinitely easier.

What’s particularly interesting about these new skis is how they reduce chatter. The technology integrated into them, dubbed Noize Control, was originally developed to fine-tune and harmonize the vibrations in musical instruments and concert halls.

The same innovation is present in the skis, via metal particles arranged in a special pattern on the top of the ski’s core.

Through the magic of science, these glittering insets help to spread vibrations evenly across the ski, reducing unwanted fluctuations and essentially smoothing out the ride.

The Noize tech also helps load energy into the ski so that it can really burst out of turns.

To arrive at this new series, the Austrian brand has invested more than two years of research and development, working with elite European ski racers including Daniel Yule, AJ Ginnis, Kristoffer Jakobsen and Katharina Huber.

These glittering insets spread vibrations evenly across the ski, reducing unwanted fluctuations and essentially smoothing out the ride.

The skis have been tested on the World Cup circuit in prototype form, delivering smooth arcs and better control at high speeds, enabling racers to pursue more direct and efficient lines.

As it is indeed a collection, RC4 Noize appears in several Fischer skis to suit different types of skiers.

The RC4 Noize replaces the iconic RC4 CT for racing enthusiasts, while the Noize LT boosts responsiveness in long turns and the Noize ST is best for short turns. (You’d never guess it from those initials, would ya?)

The RC4 ST and STI models improve performance for skiers looking to step things up a notch. Rounding out the new collection are a couple of race-specific skis, the RC4 Noize SL for slalom and RC4 Noize GS for giant slalom.

So whether you ski out West or dare to tackle the Ice Coast East Coast slopes, there’s a ski for you.
