Impostor syndrome. That’s what knife/EDC influencer Zac Whitmore (aka Zac in the Wild) appeared to be suffering from last year when his buddy, knife designer (and fellow BladeHQ alum) Ben Peterson, asked him why he didn’t design a knife himself.
So what makes this knife award-winning? The short answer is that it packs a combo of style, utility and quality materials you don’t often see in a knife costing just $67.
“If I’m being honest with myself I didn’t want to put the craftsman side of myself out there because I was worried it wouldn’t be good enough,” he admits in a June Instagram post.
Apparently Peterson did a pretty good job of twisting his arm, though, because in that very same post, Whitmore shows off the Civivi Yonder, his first knife design, which won Best Buy of the Year at Blade Show 2024. The knife recently surfaced on Civivi’s website and should be available for purchase next month.

Here we have a full-bellied, 2.88-inch drop-point spey blade made of reliable 14C28N steel. It’s deployed via dual thumb studs and held in place with a crossbar lock.
