When someone utters the phrase “pocket knife,” it usually conjures images of a folding blade. Most of the time, that’d be the correct assumption. But a fixed blade can sometimes make for an exceptional everyday carry option.
I’m not typically one to advocate for fixed-blade EDC, any more than I’d advocate for a folding blade as a bushcraft knife. However, Civivi’s Sōkn has me rethinking that stance.
This compact, quick-deploying knife makes a very strong argument in the pro column of the fixed-blade everyday carry chart. As it should, since that’s what it was designed for.

Love handle
The first thing you’ll likely notice about the Civivi Sōkn is the unusual knob at the end of its handle. Its designer, Kyle Lamb of Viking Tactics, has lovingly dubbed it the “lamb shank.”
It’s not just a strange design; it serves a real, useful purpose. Because of its placement, it hooks around the outside of the palm to increase grip and traction on the knife, thus increasing deployment speed and overall grip security.
