Among the names that really resonate in knife circles, Bob Terzuola sits near the top. Designing blades for CIA operatives overseas in the ’70s, the guy essentially invented the tactical category with the ATCF (Advanced Technology Combat Folder). He continues to iterate and innovate to this day.

Now a Cutlery Hall of Fame inductee, Terzuola carries the sort of status that has many knife brands just itching to partner up with him. Hence the excellent Tactile Knife Co. Mariner 2 we saw last year and what’s finally released this month: a collaboration with Böker on a new release they’ve dubbed the Tac-Master.

Böker Plus Tac-Master

Considering all Terzuola has accomplished on the tactical front, the name makes sense. But what does this particular offering have to, umm, offer? Quite a lot. One thing is abundantly clear: The blade is no joke.

Measuring nearly 4 inches, it’s a tanto-style blade with a compound grind, leaving it thicker at the back and narrower at the front and tip. That makes it ideal for piercing up front and robust enough toward the base for carving and other tougher cutting tasks.

The steel is Nitro-V, known for its exceptional blend of edge retention and corrosion resistance, with a black stonewash finish. It’s deployed with an understated flipper tab and held in place with a liner lock.

The Tac-Master’s grip-friendly, olive green handles are made of Micarta and highlighted by the dragon-headed Terzuola Design logo, which covers the blade axle screw.

The final touch is a black stainless steel tip-up pocket clip. The whole unit weighs 5.2 ounces and comes with a nylon case.

That generous blade and the Terzuola name should be enough to stoke any tactical fan’s excitement, even considering the postponement of its release. On the upside, it’s finally here.
