Today is only the seventh day of the year. There are still 358 yet to come before we turn the calendar over to 2026. Yet Böker has released a knife I’m calling one of my favorite EDC releases of the year.

Designed by Kirk Mayberry of KM Designs, the Böker Plus Sliplock is one of the best recent examples of classic pocket knife style meeting contemporary everyday carry features.

Looking sharp

The Böker Plus Sliplock’s silhouette is unmistakably old-school, harkening back to hunting and Boy Scout knives, which helped popularize pocket knives in the first place.

The ergonomic curves of its handle scales mimic those of traditional folders, such as those made of wood or bone. Furthermore, the wide, aggressive, 3.03-inch clip-point blade is a mainstay of classic outdoor cutting tools.

If it weren’t for the distinctly modern materials and mechanisms, this knife might fit in alongside folding knife icons like the Buck 110 Folding Hunter and Case Trapper.

Modern marvel

Whereas this knife’s shape and form are distinctly traditional, its makeup and functionality are designed around modern audiences.

For instance, it has a titanium scale and frame lock mechanism on one side of the handle (despite the slipjoint suggestion in its name) and a grippy G10 scale on the other. Plus, the blade is crafted from Sandvik 14C28N steel.

Even the elongated thumb hole adds a more modern touch (and better accessibility) to its appearance and functionality. This knife is the epitome of old meets new, and I think it’s brilliant.

Available now

Technically, the Böker Plus Sliplock was released at the tail end of last year. The good news is that it came out without the benefit of a big announcement, so you can still get your hands on one.

You can pick it up on Böker’s site for $139. Or you can grab it on Blade HQ for a lot less — it’s on sale for $118.
