Most folks probably think of fixed blades as hefty, intimidating cutting tools. That hasn’t been helped by their presence and usage in big-budget action flicks (we’re looking at you, Rambo).

While many are best suited to outdoor activities like hiking, hunting, survivalism and camping, they can also be discreet and compact enough for everyday carry. Böker’s tiny, newly released Enki makes a strong case for the latter.

Ergonomics over everything

Measuring 6.14 inches, the Enki is already compact for a fixed-blade knife, but its blade, which is only 2.28 inches, makes it look even smaller.

However, there’s a good reason for the blade-to-handle ratio: ergonomics. The large finger choil (the cutout just behind the blade) pairs with the finger ring (the large hole at the handle’s base) to create a glove-like fit for your hand.

This unique grip increases both the Enki’s safety and precision control. Furthermore, the jimping on the spine allows for better leverage for tougher cuts.

Tiny but mighty

The Enki’s full-tang blade is made from 440B steel, which gives it plenty of strength and durability, decent edge retention and corrosion resistance. While serviceable, it’s also quite inexpensive.

Furthermore, the handle scales are made from Micarta — a surprising addition. Micarta is resistant to moisture, highly durable, stable, and helps solidify the grip.

Lastly, it comes complete with a Kydex sheath, simplifying carry whether you want to wear it on your belt as a primary EDC blade, haul it in your pack as a backup knife or whatever else.

Altogether, it’s an impressive little knife, made all the better by its affordability.
