Gore-Tex. Carbon Fiber. Pumpkin Spice. Sometimes all it takes is the casual mention of a single ingredient to get us unreasonably stoked about a product (or latte).

The one that has had that effect in the knife world over the past year or so is the super steel known MagnaCut. However, it’s not the only blade material that can rock your world — and worlds beyond.

The interplay of the patterns on the handle and the blade itself only adds to the striking visual appeal.

Taking that phrase completely literally, I’d argue that Böker’s new gentleman’s knife is even more exciting.

Because the blade on this here BRLW Meteorite Damast features a special sauce that’s pretty dang rare: real iron meteorite.

It came from outer space

For those who snoozed through science class, when a space rock called a meteoroid survives a trip through earth’s atmosphere and hits the ground, it’s called a meteorite

The ultimate material, a composite of real iron meteorite and carbon steel, is known as non-stainless meteorite Damascus — and the overall “Mosaic Crossed Damascus Pattern” is stunning.

In that way, it’s actually tougher than a meteor, which burns up upon entry into Earth’s atmosphere (hence the term “meteor shower”).

But let’s be honest, the really cool thing about meteorites is that they have traveled literally thousands of miles to get here. And while we often see this material pop up in high-end watches, it’s much less common for it to appear in a knife.

Yet here it is in this premium Barlow knife’s 2.6-inch blade, a ball-bearing clip point hand forged by Chad Nichols of Nichols Damascus.

Orbiting features

Of course, Böker would not introduce such a cosmically classy, pricey gentleman’s knife without complementary qualities beyond the blade.

The BRLW Meteorite Damascus also boasts a precision-milled titanium handle with texturing that mimics the surface of a space rock while also improving the grip.

The blade itself can be deployed via an incredibly discreet flipper, and is held in place via an integrated framelock with a hardened lockbar insert.

Weighing 2.6 ounces, the knife also comes with a milled titanium tip-up pocket clip, a lanyard hole for bonus carry options and a felt sheath.

And while the BRLW Meteorite Damast is technically handmade at the Böker Manufactory in Solingen, Germany, I dare say a knife this special is a gift from the whole dang universe.
